GQ's men.style.com"This añejo is the work of Oxnard, California-based Adolfo Murillo, who, in addition to being a distiller, is also a part-time optometrist (insert your own blind-drunk joke here). Despite the name Alquimia--Spanish for "alchemy"... the tequila is made from only top-tier materials: agave grown on Murillo's family ranch in Jalisco, Mexico, which is distilled and aged for just under three years in white oak barrels for a robust wood essense. The stuff is also grown without using pesticides or chemicals, and an organic streak holds true for the packaging too. The handsome hand-blown bottles are made from recycled glass."
Beverage Industry NewsSeptember 2009"Tequila Alquimia, meanwhile, is not just using a green approach to win Hispanic-American consumers, but basing its appeal and claims to quality on it."Earlier this year, we proudly announced that we just received the results of this year's Chicago Beverage Institute's International Review of Spirits," says Dr. Adolfo Murillo, President and CEO of Tequila Alquimia. "We were just awarded three gold medals, one each for our Añejo, Reposado, and Blanco... These industry awards are very important to us and our marketing in that they help us continue to promote our work in the teaching of organic agriculture. Our recent USDA Organic Certification will also help to validate our project."
